Love Orthodontics Invisalign FAQs

Is Invisalign Treatment Right for Me?

For those who would like to straighten their teeth but are concerned that traditional metal braces will adversely affect their appearance, Invisalign is an excellent choice. We can correct many orthodontic issues with Invisalign, including:

  • overbite
  • underbite
  • crossbite
  • widely spaced teeth
  • crowded teeth

Invisalign is a perfect solution for both adults and teens who are looking for an alternative to traditional braces to create your beautiful smile! Innovative technology advances make it possible to fix most teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex. To determine if Invisalign is right for you, contact us to schedule a consultation with Dr. Grewal today.

How Does the Treatment Process Work?

Dr. Grewal will start with a FREE consultation and examination, which will include digital x-rays. He will evaluate your teeth and bite, then create a precise, customized digital plan that maps the step-by-step process to realize your ultimate smile dream.

After you approve your plan, your unique aligners will be created. Once your aligners are created, the first set will be sent to Dr. Grewal, who will meet with you to help you understand the process and procedures for successful treatment.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign uses a patented thermoplastic called SmartTrack® to create clear, flexible plastic aligners. The treatment itself is a process of wearing a series of removable aligners that will gradually straighten your teeth. The clear aligners are designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your unique plan.

For optimal results, we recommend you wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks, as directed by Dr. Grewal. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your specific treatment plan, until you reach your amazing smile!

How will Wearing Invisalign Affect my Life?

Invisalign FAQ

Because the Invisalign aligners are clear, they are almost invisible to those around you. Most will not even be able to tell you are wearing them!

You can remove the Invisalign clear aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. As a result, you really have no eating or drinking restrictions, as you do with traditional braces. We highly recommended you clean your mouth thoroughly after each meal or drink to ensure no particles are caught between your teeth and the aligners.

Another amazing benefit is that if you have a special occasion — a job interview, wedding, or speaking engagement — or are playing sports, you can remove the aligners and store them safely. Keep in mind that for the aligners to do their job correctly, wear them 20 to 22 hours per day.

You may feel slight discomfort when beginning each new set of aligners because your teeth are being gently moved. This discomfort typically only lasts for a short time. In addition, when you first begin using the aligners, your tongue will need to get used to having the aligners in your mouth. You may notice a slight lisp until you are accustomed to them.

How Long Will I Have to Wear Them?

Since every mouth is different, the duration of treatment depends on many factors, like how complex your case is and how often you wear your aligners. Dr. Grewal will determine exactly how long your treatment will take based on your specific needs. Usually, Invisalign treatment lasts from 12 to 24 months, but you may start seeing results in a matter of weeks!

What Happens After I Complete the Invisalign Process?

You will need to wear a retainer to prevent your new smile from shifting back toward its original position. There are many types of retainers, but we will help you decide which would be the best option for your particular needs. Typically, you will wear your retainers full-time. Dr. Grewal may recommend that you gradually reduce how long you wear them until you only wear them at night.

What is the Cost?

The cost of Invisalign treatment is similar to the cost of standard braces. Dr. Grewal will determine the cost of your treatment based on how complex your case is and how many aligners you need. Because we start your process with a FREE consultation, you will have a good idea of what the costs will be before you commit.
